I still remember the exact moment I gave my life to Jesus Christ; it’s a very distinct memory I’ll always carry with such joy. At that very moment my life changed for the better. Much better. From that moment God has captured my heart and continues to stir my affections towards Christ. Throughout my very short time of walking with God, I have learned so much about His goodness, and the greatest thing He has ever done for me. That great act of love was sending His son to Earth to be our ultimate atonement. While I knew how kind God was to send His son. I had more questions about Jesus and His character. Hebrews was the book that opened my eyes to so much of who exactly Jesus was and is. From the moment you open the book the first four verses are filled with goodness and knowledge of Jesus.
Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. So he became superior to the angels, just as the name he inherited is more excellent than theirs.
Hebrews 1:1-4 (CSB)
In the verses we learn Jesus is:
The heir of all things
The radiance of God’s glory
The expression of God’s nature
Sustainer of all things
Superior to even angels
And so much more!!!
Hebrews has taught me about the divinity of Jesus, the holiness of Jesus, the rest that is Jesus, ultimately through this great book of Hebrews I began to gain how sweet it is to follow Jesus. That my friends is my hope for you in this devo series. That you would ultimately learn more about Jesus. My hope is that you would fall more in love with Jesus and his nature. I pray God would push you and challenge you. I pray that you would ask questions like….
What do I know to be true about Jesus?
Am I putting all of my trust in Jesus?
Throughout my day are people seeing more of myself or Jesus.
When people are seeing the former, and am I quick to take up my cross and repent?
Is Jesus my rest? Is he my yoke?
Ask questions...dig deep, and learn more of who Jesus is and how He loves us.
Pray with me sis:
God as we study this book, may our devotion be on you. May our hearts be focused on you. God will you illuminate your word and pierce every heart that would read this. As my sisters and I journey will you show up so boldly and clearly. I pray that each woman walks away knowing more about you and your son. Father may we take up our cross and follow Jesus.
